Model Seder Held at the University of Pittsburgh

The Collaboratory Against Hate co-sponsored a multigenerational model seder on March 18th. Model Seders can include explanations of symbolic meanings, Hebrew songs and chants, and discussions about the significance of Passover to other religions. They can also provide opportunities for dialogue and feature foods that represent the Jewish diaspora.

This dinner served as an educational event to share the Jewish traditions with a diverse community comprised of different backgrounds, ages, and religions. There were participants from Carnegie Mellon, Community of Allegheny County, and the University of Pittsburgh.

The evening was co-hosted by Giving It Forward Together, a nondenominational nonprofit dedicated to fostering intergenerational community volunteerism and connection, with contributions by the Pittsburgh Holocaust Center, the Collaboratory Against Hate, Carnegie Mellon University, Chabad and Tzohar Seminary, and the University of Pittsburgh's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
